Construction surveying or building surveying (otherwise known as "staking", "stake-out", "layout" or "setting out") is to stake out reference points and markers that will guide in the completion of new construction such as roads, buildings and utilities. These markers are usually from plans, according to a suitable coordinate system selected for the project.
